Email
There is a lot of information about setting up email and rather than cram all the configuration information on this one page we have dedicated another page souly for the purpose of email configuration and setup. click here to see our email configuration pages
Alternatively Benet has provided for you WEBMAIL this is a useful tool if your PC is temporarily unconfigured for your email to work properly or if you travel away from home but still want to check your Benet email.
If your ever away from home simply log into our home page Http://www.benet.net.au and enter your login ID and password then click the login button.
No matter where you are in the world you shall always have access to your Benet Email.

Dialing Into Benet
The following instructions have been broken down and put into sections for your convenience. You can skip sections that don't apply or print them out for future reference.
If you feel that there are sections missing or you need clarification or more help setting up your connection to Benet please feel free to contact us. We are open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

Installation

Step 1 in configuring your PC to dial into Benet. To access the net you need the following:
• A PC
• A Modem (attached to your PC and working)
• A telephone line

Checking that your modem is installed
Click on the START button in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.
Click on SETTINGS
Click on CONTROL PANEL
A "control panel" window will open.
Double click on MODEMS
You will see it read: The following Modems are set up on this computer. Inside the white box will list which modems are set up on your PC.


If there is a modem set up on your computer close this window. You can skip this section! If there is no modem set up on your computer click on ADD.

Creating your Dial-Up Connection to Benet
Double click on MY COMPUTER (top left hand side of your screen)
Double click on the icon DIAL UP NETWORKING
Double click on MAKE NEW CONNECTION
Where it reads: Type a name for the computer you are dialing; place in the white box: BENET
Then select your modem from the drop menu below.
Click NEXT
Choose the area code 08 and country code Australia (+61)
Choose from the table below the telephone number closest to you to dail. Enter this number in the section reading: Telephone Number

Click NEXT
You shall now be told that you have successfully created a Dial-Up Connection called BENET.
Click FINISH
A new Dial-Up Networking icon shall now appear in your Dial-Up Networking folder called BENET. Right click on this Dial-Up Connection and choose PROPERTIES

Ensure that your personal modem is selected in the option CONNECT USING
If the option "Use area Code and Dialing Properties" is selected turn this option off, so that the Area Code and Country Code are grey'd out.
Click on the tab SERVER TYPES
Ensure that the only options in the top section that have a tick are the following:
• Log onto Network
• Enable software compression
In the bottom section ensure that the only options that have a tick are:
• TCP/IP
Click OK

Testing your Benet Connection
Make sure that your modem is turned on and the telephone line is connected to it accordingly.
Right click on your Benet Connection inside your Dial-Up Networking window.
Scroll down to where it reads CREATE SHORTCUT and click
Your PC shall tell you that it cannot create a shortcut inside the folder and would you like to place it on your desktop instead. Choose YES.
Close the Dial-Up Networking window
Double click on the SHORT-CUT TO BENET icon on your desktop
Insert your user name and below insert your password
Click connect

Connection

If your modem is working correctly and the configuration has been entered without error then you should hear your modem dialing the number and once the call is answered you shall hear a lot of loud static.
You will then see a series of messages appear on your screen.
• Checking username and password
• Logging onto Network
Both of these may take a little while.
Once you've been given authorisation to use Benet as your Internet Service Provider you may get a message display showing you the details of your connection to Benet or you may just see two computers appear next to your clock on the bottom right hand side of your screen.

Disconnecting from Benet

When you have finished using your Benet Internet Connection you can disconnect from us. This will close your session and close the telephone call. To close your connection to Benet double click on the two computers on the bottom right hand side of your screen next to your time clock.
Click on the option DISCONNECT
This window shall close on it's own. Once it has done so you have terminated your connection to Benet. To test, try picking up your telephone. If you hear a dial tone you have successfully disconnected from Benet.
