Benet Support
Troubleshooting Assistance
For Benet Users
The most frustrating thing for Internet users is when things just don't work right. Be it your email, browsing the net or not even being able to dial into Benet.

To help overcome this frustration we've included the most common problems and their most obvious solution. Majority of the time if you experience any of the following these answers will provide relief for you. We do realise that there shall be those few of you who will try these solutions and it still won't work for you.
Well that's OK! We have a 9am - 5pm Support Telephone Line for you to call 08 9980 1882

If you would prefer to email us then please try and include as much information as you possibly can. Please try and include the following at least:
• A detailed description of what you are doing and trying to achieve.
• Quote any error messages that you are recieving.
• The name of any programs you are using. (For example, Internet Explorer as your web browsing program)
• The solutions that you have tried on this page. (If applicable)

* Please note that due to the number of calls we receive each day we shall refer you to this page if it is possible for you to do so. Only once you have given the solutions on this page an honest try will we then be able to warrant spending the time to give you our assistance. This is to ensure that those customers who are genuinely unable to access this page "do" get our assistance and aren't met by that ever so frustrating engaged signal. We appreciate your consideration and understanding in this matter.

We shall be updating this section regulary as our users notify us of any reoccuring questions or queries so remeber to check back here regulary.
Engaged Signal
What to do when
You receive the
Engaged Signal
You've run your Benet Connection and suddenly you recieve a message notifying you that the line is engaged.

This is because all of our lines and modems already have other Benet users on them and there are none left for you to use. Don't dispair though, keep trying and you shall get through eventually.

If you do notice that this becomes a regular occurance during certain hours, or lasts for days on end then try ringing our dial-in number manually on your hand held telephone. If your call is answered and you hear the modem static then hang up and give your dial up connection another go.

Often the case is that our lines are full, however if it your call is always answered when you dial manually then it is recommended that you try reconfiguring your modem and it's dial in properties to Benet.

My Email won't send
What to do?
Often when your email doesn't send the first error message you see is the following:
When you recieve this error click on the Errors tab.
You will then see very important information as to why your mail message failed. What we need is word-for-word the information contained. Only then are we able to help you. If you forward this error message onto us we will ask you for the error message contained within the Errors tab.
If you have any additional information of what you were trying to do at the time you recieved this message please remember to include them.

Don't forget: If your email is not working you can use the BENET WEBMAIL. Simply login at the top of this page using your personal details!
Web Pages
I can't get the
web pages I want!
Sometimes when you've typed in an Internet Address and tried to connect to it you recieve the following error:
Note at the top of this window it reads Error 404 Not Found. This means that the page you are trying to find (in this case http://www.benet.net.au/~homepage) does not exist.
